As Jasper says, "Christmas was EXHAUSTING." (Pepe taught him to say that.)
We have finally returned from our 10 day tour of the east coast. The driving was by far the most stressful part of the sojourn, but each leg of the trip was buffered by delicious food, long conversations, relaxation and much merriment, so we seem to have come out of it all the stronger. There are too many details to recount here, and life is sweeping us toward the primary. You can get the gist of our trip by visiting our picasa site at:
www.picasa.google.com/divangou. We spent New Year's with friends in Brooklyn, and then raced the winter storm north on the 1st. Unfortunately, the storm won, so we had to park at a neighbor's house and shuttle our stuff to the house on sleds. We were all happy to be home, but Jasper was in particularly good spirits yesterday, rediscovering his own toys and play nooks. Josie seems to somehow appreciate the familiarity oh home, too, reversing her sleep schedule to spend the majority of the day awake and engaging with the world.
And the painted ponies go up and down! 2007 was momentous and miraculous with the birth of Josie (among others!), and we had many wonderful experiences to mark the passage of time. 2008 promises to be equally grand. For one, Barack Obama will be elected President and we will begin a trend towards a more just society. We also have some nice experiences planned. As I reflect on all of the abundance in my life, I am especially thankful for my amazing husband (who gets mentioned not nearly enough in this "blog") and of course my healthy, talented children. I am also amazed by our network of family and friends who are here to support us through any trial, no matter how trivial. As for resolutions, the same four dominate: more exercise, more spirituality, more patience, more service. I would also like to take a dance class, skull next summer, and write a novel... but those may have to wait for retirement.
