The Field

Today was HOT. Well up in the 80s. We seem to have entirely skipped spring, and nature is rushing to catch up. Because the trees have not yet leafed out, it was a challenge to find shade and a bit uncomfortable. I felt ridiculous even thinking about complaining about the heat. Peter found his way to the top of Monadnock today. He said he has never seen the spring ephemerals AND the trees blooming simultaneously. Despite the fact that there is no snow on top of Monadnock, the pile in our back yard seems determined to dwell until June. Peter's beard is denser than an old growth forest. And far more impressive.

This evening we had the first "Park Night" of the season. It's a casual gathering of friends/ acquaintances on Wednesday nights at any of the local parks in town. Parents relax and chat while kids run themselves ragged. The three year old posse prepared for t-ball by throwing balls at each other and jumping on the bases.
