Today was the first day we realized that life with one car may be an impossibility. Peter had a meeting out on the coast. Josie had a doctor's appointment at 10:30. Jasper had his first day of his new "school." I was supposed to go to a technology training that would essentially secure a "smart board" ( think white-board sized interactive computer screen) in my room next year. With only one living car it became clear around ten p.m. last night that something was going to have to give. I took Jasper to his first day at East Side Learning Center, dropped Peter off at work, and then took Josie with me to the training. She played with dry erase markers pleasantly for about an hour and then we had to bail. A pretty successful morning, but pretty soon we will need convenient day care for Josie and a second set of wheels to make my work schedule work. Thank God it's only July.
Josie had her nine month check up today and was given a clean bill of health. The only persistent concern is the size of her noggin, which continues to shoot off the charts. It's alarming enough to solicit a consultation with a pediatrician... but I'm not worried. I'm proud. She is 22 pounds, 29 inches long and her head is somewhere between 19 and 20 inches, depending on who is measuring.
After a hectic morning (including a visit to a potential sitter who claimed confidently that she keeps the tv on ALL DAY) and solid nap, we pulled out the slip n' slide. Pablo came over and the duo acted like they were competing in the Olympic slip n' slide trials. They were definitely going for the gold.
