Happy Fourth

Peter arrived late Thursday night, after we went to a free zydeco concert at the zoo. We had a fun day yesterday (Friday the fourth) touristing with Jasper (Josie stayed with Meme and Pepe). DC is amazing. Where else can you see highschool bands from all over the country in a parade, view dinosaur bones over 100 million years old, watch dancers from Butan perform an ancient ritual, speak with a NASA scientist about the next lunar space module, and listen to someone play the blues all in a two hour time period. Not to MENTION ride on the SUBWAY TRAIN! We had about 15 friends and family over for a barbeque in the evening. Despite the rain, we walked up to the Cathedral around 9 pm and watched the fireworks from a distance with a large waspy crowd. Jasper was entranced for about 10 minutes and then begged to go home. Today are are off to the zoo, as is tradition.
