Sniffles and Slumbers

Jasper has been sick for two days with what he calls "the sniffles" but is really the heinous cold that I gave to Peter who gave it to Jasper. He took a three hour nap in Josie's pack n' play this morning. It was that bad. He has been driving me nuts with his whining and needing to be held and low frustration level for things like drops of water on his sleeve from washing his hands. I am sick and tired of him being sick and tired. But then around 2 pm today he picked right up and went on a bizarre manic swing where he was happy and loud and polite and excited and loving and energetic... and still sniffling. Go figure.

Josie slept in her new crib in her own room for the first time last night! She slept all the way till 3 a.m. at which point she woke up calmly and requested a feeding. I obliged, not wanting to wake Jasper (who is still in his old room, but close by). Then she slept until dawn when she woke up and babbled for fifteen minutes or so before Peter retrieved her, hoping to reward a happy baby instead of a fussy one. A step in the right direction, at least. We'll see what she has in store for us tonight.

We joined some friends for "Park Night" tonight. Jasper and his friend Parker played "monsters" the entire time, which involved a lot of pointing fingers and going, "Pow! Pow! Pow!" At some point I looked over and he had dropped trow in the middle of the play structure and was peeing by the base of the monkey bars. None of the other kids seemed to care, in fact Parker asked if he could pee on the same spot. A few parents expressed concern, but I was proud. That's my potty trained big boy, with or without the potty!

Wow, Jasper's dimples really remind me of his uncle Andrew!
