Wiped

Josie didn't cry when Peter dropped her off this morning. When he picked her up, the binder outside the classroom door was filled with pictures of her crawling through the sand outside. Progress. I expected the relief of having stable daycare to affect a tangible improvement in my quality of life. I expected more energy, mental and physical, for my students. More patience. More humor and enjoyment. Today I had none of these. I was cranky. They were talkative. Three students cried. The bully stole the meek guy's snack. My introductory social studies lesson was a flop. I assigned a HW page that no one understood. Every day is like a steam roller barelling down on me. When will I feel like a fresh slate, ready to start off on the right foot? September 2009 is my best guess.
