Happy Birthday, Josie!

Jo Jo reveled in being the single center of attention for perhaps the second time in her life yesterday (her universe usually is more of an elipse, sharing the center with her charismatic brother). We were joined by Meme and Pepe from DC, Oma and Pop Pop recently returned from the Pacific Northwest, he godparents Jeff and Liz from Boston, as well as friends Erica, Dan, Pablo, Tim, Liz, Tom, Rosie and Luca. She had a blast being passed around, opening gifts, eating cake and baby junk food (Veggie Booty), dancing and playing with balloons. She was truly the life of the party.

It's a funny feeling, having your youngest begin to grow up. Even as I anticipate her milestones, anxiously waiting for teeth to appear and diapers to vanish, I regret the loss of innocence as she metamorphoses before my very eyes. Maybe that's why some people choose to have so many children: it's an effort to hold onto fleeting infancy, toddlerhood, crawling, babbling, sleeping in your arms, wanting nothing more than you. Our days are so jam packed I have no time to reflect (except in these posts), and time has sped up to a frightening pace. Josie is growing fast.
