Wonder Cousins!

Hannah, Daniel and baby Ingrid arrived on Sunday. It has been fascinating to see the two bi-coastal semi-twins interact (as much as eight month olds interact with other eight month olds; ie not much) and do their baby thing side by side. Jasper enjoys having another audience member, and is especially thrilled to have the attention of Daniel and Hannah who are adoring playmates. Ingrid spent the first five minutes belly laughing at Jasper, but has since realized he is not to be trusted. We spent a long relaxed day eating, playing, changing diapers, napping, wrestling, playing baseball, swinging, and chewing on things. Oma joined us for the afternoon and evening. Hopefully this is the first of many family gatherings, despite a continent between us.

We took a walk before dinner to the White Park playground. A mother with a baby stopped to chat. How old are they? What are their names? Are they related? At the last question, we all hesitated, hummed and hawed, looked at one another. I think I said, "Well, kind of." And then, "They're cousins. Yeah, cousins." Wonder cousins, to be precise.
