September Cousins

Our original plans to drive down to NJ to welcome our nephew Parker Cole Howell into the world were derailed by Jasper's mysterious illness on Thursday. We cancelled our trip down, with great regrets and relief, as the drive is rather long for a short weekend. Upon our cancellation, Andrew and Karen had planned to attend a party in Springfield, MA instead. When Jasper woke up happy and healthy on Friday, we called to say we could after all visit, only to discover that they would be 4 hours closer to us! We took pathetically few pictures, but never the less had a fabulous time with Sadie, Parker and their parents, as well as Oma and PopPop who hosted the party in South Hadley. The best part of it all is watching the little cousins already enjoy each other so much. They are entirely free of hang-ups. The weather was solidly fall, with crisp blue skies and frost over night. The maples have begun to turn crimson and the birches are shimmering gold already. While it is sad to say goodbye to summer, it was wonderful to smell the smoky, earthy scent of autumn in the air and to feel the crunch of leaves under foot. There are many good times ahead of us before winter!

Fun catching up on the blog today. Great to see the little cousins enjoying each other's company. Why isn't Parker sitting up at the table yet?
