Home Sweet Home

This weekend was a rare gem when we did... nothing. We saw no one. We went no where. We had no agenda. We just hung out. Board games, blocks, puppet shows, at least 100 lbs of laundry, house cleaning, yard work, jumping in leaves, a brunch with neighborhood friends, tons of books, songs and dancing, a fire out back complete with s'mores. Not to say that we don't love adventuring and traveling and partying and seeing friends and family. But I think we were all in need of a little nuclear energy boost.

AND JOSIE GAVE UP HER BINKY! On Friday night we had a Bye, Bye Binky Party. We sang the Bye Bye Binky Song (to the tune of Goodnight Ladies), wrote a note to Baby Parker and wrapped up the binkies to send to him since he is a baby and needs binkies and Josie is a big girl and does NOT. Josie was all for the idea. Especially since there were treat bags and presents involved. Unfortunately, my idea of making all of the treats binky-like (spinning tops, ring pops, finger puppets) ended up being a bit confusing. But Josie played right along, happy as a clam to give away the binkies to the babies. Until it was bedtime. After bath she ritualistically requested the binky. Ummm. "It's gone, Josie." Then it was as if she was being consumed by flames for the better part of an hour. She eventually cried herself to sleep. She had another fit in the middle of the night and woke up early the next morning to a new binky-less world. But on Saturday she didn't even ask for it. The tide had turned. We were done. I'm just waiting for her to start sucking her lower lip and develop a fetish for one of our facial anomolies. But at least the latex is a thing of the past.
